Sennheiser HD 250BT On-Ear Bluetooth Headphone
As true wireless earbuds gain in popularity, we’re seeing far fewer wireless headphone releases than we typically do, especially when it comes to affordable models. Thus, Sennheiser’s HD 250BT headphones feel like a breath of fresh air, and the fact that they look and sound good is just icing on the cake. They deliver a solid, reliable mix of accurate lows and detailed highs, making them attractive for audiophiles. Throw in an app with adjustable EQ and support for AptX and AAC codecs, and you’ve got a budget-friendly pair of Bluetooth headphones for those who care about audio quality more than anything else.
Function Over Form
From a visual standpoint, the black HD 250BT headphones have an understated cool about them. Sennheiser keeps things simple and functional, and the result is fairly stylish. The supra-aural (on-ear) cups manage to create a reliable seal against the outside world, with padding that may not feel plush, but is firm and helps prove a stable fit.
That said, the headband here is among the least comfortable I’ve worn in quite some time. There’s no padding, just hard plastic meeting the top of your head. Even if you’re blessed with lush locks, the lack of padding means a heightened awareness of the hard plastic pressing on your skull. It’s possible to adjust the headband so that the tension is held between the earcups and the band sort of hovers over your head without making much contact with it—as long as you don’t look down or lean back. Ultimately, this is the only real issue we have with these headphones, but it’s definitely one that’s worth considering depending on how much your prioritize comfort.
There are push-button controls along the outer side panel of the right earcup, with a central multifunction button for playback, track navigation, and call management. Plus and minus buttons on either side of it handle volume, and the minus button mutes the microphone when held down for two seconds.
