Creative SBS 2.1 Bluetooth Sub Woofer
The packaging of the Creative SBS E2400 is simple and straightforward. The back and front have the same layout as well as each side. The packaging highlights the speakers’ main features such as FM Radio, USB Port, Remote Control, RCA Component Port, and more.
Each side of the packaging highlights the main specification of the speaker as well as its main features. The box states that the Creative SBS E2400 supports flash drives of up to 32GB capacity. So it’s worth taking note of that. Using bigger capacity flash drives could prevent this speaker to work properly.
Other information highlights the speakers’ features such as the support of equalizer setting for USB mode and a built-in FM radio.
Accessories – Creative SBS E2400
Like most electronic products, the Creative SBS E2400 speakers are protected by thick foams and plastic covering to prevent any trivial damage such as scratch or dents during travel.
Taking the content out of the box, we got 3 Creative pamphlets about safety and regulatory information, quick start guide, and a warranty pamphlet.
The package also includes one RCA to 3.5mm cable that’s 1.2m long. Unfortunately, it doesn’t include any other cables.
So, if you want to use this with your PC or Smartphone, you may need to buy a separate 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable.
The remote control for the Creative SBS E2400 2.1CH speaker allows you to control the speaker at a distance.
The controller lets you control of the following
The inclusion of a remote control is definitely a plus for me. Most speakers on the market now come with a built-in switch which tends to be a pain in the ass. Especially if I already set my speakers to a position that makes it difficult to reach the switch button. With this remote control, you can easily turn on or off the Creative SBS E2400 speaker. Lovely I must say.
Creative 2.1 SBS E2400 Multimedia Speaker
Taking the Creative SBS E2400 speaker out of its box was very easy. Just make sure you have a scissor ready or cutter to cut some tapes.
Assembly and configuration were quite easy too. I did not even need to read the quick start guide. Setting up the speakers with my PC was straightforward and easy. Plug and play, no drivers needed. Though you must know, as we already mentioned above, you will need to buy a separete 3.5mm to 3.5mm audio cable.
Taking a closer look at the subwoofer, the subwoofer is sized at 155.0 x 262.0 x 281.0 mm. The 4.5-inch satellite driver used by the subwoofer is located at its right side when facing front. The design is okay but could be better. I prefer minimalistic design. The design of the Creative SBS E2400 seems futuristic but it doesn’t tickle my taste.
At the top front part of the subwoofer, you will find 4 different buttons mainly Power/Source, Play/Pause/Scan, Previous/Volume Down, Next/Volume Up.
Again, the design seems to be futuristic. These designs were very popular back in the days. Just not sure if the design of the Creative SBS E2400 will appeal to most end users.
On the top part of the front of the speaker, you will find one USB port. This port allows you to play any music to any USB flash drive, however, according to the specification, the speaker is only capable of supporting USB flash drive of up to 32GB. We did try to test this and we’re not sure but our 64 Sandisk USB 3.0 Flash Drive worked and we were able to play some music with it.
The back side of the subwoofer reveals the I/O ports. The Creative E2400 uses 3.5mm audio jack as its input source while it uses RCA cables for the output. The colour of each port represents an orientation for the speakers. Red being right and white being left.
At a closer look at the satellites, the speakers don’t reveal much other than its socket for wall mount. We also found out that the top speaker, the small mini looking speaker, for each satellite isn’t actually a speaker. It’s more of a design and aesthetics.
Sound Test – Creative SBS E2400
A few things that you need to know for our speaker test. The results may vary as this isn’t really an optimal way to record the results of the sound test. We do, however, set everything at 50% volume including my PC which is its input source.
So it is best to listen and watch the video at either 80% to 90% volume to get the idea of how powerful these speakers are.
